Two children camping in a backyard to watch Fourth of July fireworks over the Ohio River observed a silent, oblong/circular craft hovering near the fireworks display. Initially mistaken for a news helicopter, it slowly moved toward their position over about 5 minutes, then stopped mid-air approximately 500 feet above them. The craft was circular but elongated, grey, flat on the bottom and rounded on the top, with multi-colored lights encircling the bottom and a wrap-around lighted window at the front. After hovering for about 30 seconds, a shadowy figure was seen moving to the window and glancing down at the witnesses. The craft then shot straight up into the clouds in a split second and moved away at great speed. The witnesses ran inside to tell the friend's parents, who did not believe them.
